Rusty Chatfield

Pastor Rusty Chatfield graduated from Tennessee Temple University in 1979 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Bible and a minor in History. After graduation, he moved up North and taught at Pellston Christian School later that fall in 1979. Pastor Chatfield then went on to earn a Master of Arts degree in History from Central Michigan University in 1988. He completed further studies at Temple Baptist Theological Seminary and Northland Baptist Bible college. Pastor Chatfield also serves as co-host to Freedom’s Foundation, which is a local radio program that emphasizes America’s Christian Heritage. Pastor Chatfield has faithfully taught at NMCA for 34 consecutive years, while also serving as Pastor of Northern Michigan Baptist Bible Church since 1983.

Jon Thompson

Jon has a Bachelor of Arts degree in youth ministries, along with a minor in physical education from Pensacola Christian College. Throughout his life, Jon has thoroughly enjoyed working with children and impacting their lives for the cause of Christ. He has been involved in teaching and leading youth for the last twenty-four years – youth groups, Sunday school, camp ministry, directing youth choirs, and teaching at NMCA. Jon has faithfully served as the school principal since 2003.

Lee Chatfield

Lee Chatfield graduated from Northern Michigan Christian Academy in 2006 and went on to graduate with a Bachelor of Science degree from Northland International University in History Education in 2010. Lee earned a National Coaching License from the NSCAA (National Soccer Coaches Association of America) in 2010 and an Advanced National Coaching License from the NSCAA in 2012. He has taught and coached at Northern Michigan Christian Academy since 2010.

Earl Bercot

Earl J. Bercot earned a Bachelor of Religious Education (BRE) and Master of Religious Education (MRE) both from Grand Rapids Baptist College and Theological Seminary, which is now known as Cornerstone University. He has pastored Faith Bible Church in St. Ignace Michigan since 1991, and has been in the ministry since 1982. He pastored Glenn Memorial Baptist Church from 1984-1991. Pastor Bercot has faithfully taught several subjects at Northern Michigan Christian Academy since 1994.

William Bump

Pastor William Bump graduated from Bob Jones University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Bible in 1975. He then furthered his education and earned an Master of Arts degree in Pastoral Studies in 1979 from Bob Jones University. Pastor Bump has taught at NMCA since 2001, and has been pastor at Tower Baptist Church since 1998. He is married with two children, both of whom graduated from NMCA.

Annette Thompson

Mrs. Thompson graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education from Michigan State University, has an Early Childhood Education Endorsement from Central Michigan University, and she has received training from the Michigan Dyslexia Institute. Mrs. Annette Thompson has taught 1st and 2nd grades at Northern Michigan Christian Academy since 2001, and has also taught at the Mackinac Island Public School on Mackinac Island, Michigan, Faith Christian School in Lake Odessa, Michigan and homeschooled her own children for several years.

Merribeth Thompson

Merribeth graduated from Pensacola Christian College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education in 1988. She was able to teach at Pensacola Christian Academy for three years after graduation from PCC, and then she was given the opportunity to combine teaching with another love – being a mother. She and her husband, Jon, enjoyed homeschooling their children for six years, and then the Lord brought their family to Northern Michigan Christian Academy, where she has been teaching kindergarten since 2003.

Peggy MacCurdy

Peggy joined the Northern Michigan Christian Academy staff in 2012 and teaches the 3rd and 4th grade classes. Peggy graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from Hyles Anderson College in 1988. She has since taught in five Christian schools, giving here over 20 years of teaching experience in the classroom.

Ken Bradstreet

Ken Bradstreet has been instrumental at Northern Michigan Christian Academy and has been a faithful member of Northern Michigan Baptist Bible Church for many years. Ken was educated at Grand Rapids School of Bible and Music at the undergraduate and post-graduate levels. Ken has managed several businesses and been their representatives in Washington D.C., and he also served in the Michigan Legislature for three consecutive terms from 1998 – 2004. All of Ken and Barb’s children have attended Northern Michigan Christian Academy, and his wife Barb faithfully served as an elementary teacher for many years.

Lisa Beckman

Lisa serves as Northern Michigan Christian Academy’s secretarial assistant and also coordinates the school’s lunch program. Lisa has faithfully served in this capacity since 2009.
